BEACH TIME SINCE 1958
BEACH TIME SINCE 1958
The Transeth Cabin is a one bedroom bungalow located three blocks from the long, sandy beach at Rio Del Mar. The Cabin is just eight miles South of Santa Cruz on scenic Highway 1. My dad, Cliff Transeth, built The Cabin with his buddies in 1958-59 as a weekend retreat - just 30 minutes from our home in San Jose. Over the years The Cabin has been 'the honeymoon spot' for well over a dozen family friends. It is just under 800 square feet of completely remodeled coziness. New kitchen. New bathroom. New windows. New deck. New big screen TV. High speed internet. Amazing new bed. New BBQ. But the bones of the place have not changed. The Philippine mahogony paneling, large glass picture windows looking out to the trees, the porcelain metal fireplace, the handmade kitchen cabinets. It is perfect for a couple - and maybe a couple of small kids. Just settle in, enjoy each other, watch a movie, read a book, take a long walk on the Monterey Bay. This is your new favorite spot. Weekend tested since 1959.
Dad built all the kitchen cabinets. We replaced the original bright yellow Formica counters after 55 years. The panneling and light fixtures are original. We recently added the washer/dryer so we can take care of those sandy beach towels.
